According to ARIA recommendations: Rhinitis is defined as inflammation of the nasal cavity mucosa and is characterized by symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, nasal congestion and/or itchy nose. These symptoms last for at least 2 or more consecutive days or more than 1 hour for most days. Allergic rhinitis is determined when the above-mentioned inflammatory symptoms arise due to an allergenic factor .

1. Why are there children with allergic rhinitis all year round?

It is very common for a person to be allergic to many allergies. For example, people who are allergic to pollen from plants, grasses and weeds, the disease can last from spring to late autumn in temperate climates. And in tropical countries, pollen allergies can cause disease all year round. Therefore, children can have allergic rhinitis (VMD) all year round.

However, the term has changed in recent times, with new guidelines for controlling VMDs categorising VMDs as intermittent or persistent rather than year-round VMDs and seasonal VMs. There are many reasons for this change. One of them is that an allergen present all year round does not necessarily cause VMD all year round, since it also depends on the level of contact and sensitivity of each individual, the symptoms of rhinitis can be constant or concentrated at a specific time of year.

Dog and cat hair is one of the causes of allergic rhinitis

In addition, those who are allergic to animal factors, such as dog and cat hair, when not in possession of pets, symptoms may persist or intermittently depending on the duration of exposure to allergies. Therefore, the classification of VMs into interruptions or persistents is preferred.

2. Classification of allergic rhinitis according to ARIA guidelines (2010)

THE VMD classification is based on parameters of symptoms and quality of life, the duration of which symptoms exist and is divided into two types: intermittent intermittent rhinitis and persistent (Persistent allergic rhinitis).

The condition is classified based on exacerbation, symptoms and quality of life. VMDU is divided into levels: mild, medium-heavy.
