The HCV Ab test will have two negative and positive results.

• Samples that do not respond to initial screening may be reported as non-HCV detection. However, it should not be subjective because so far there is no vaccine to prevent hepatitis C, so when there is doubt to perform the test, it is still necessary to equip knowledge to prevent the disease effectively.

If positive results: There are 2 possibilities

• First, the person is likely to have been infected with hepatitis C. If the HCV RNA test is positive, the person is currently infected. If no HCV virus is detected, the person, or without an active infection or virus present in very low quantities (patients who have been infected with hepatitis C virus) but have excluded the virus from the body (only 15% of people infected with the virus are capable of self-elimination during the acute hepatitis C phase , the rest of them go to the chronic stage.
• The other case is a patient with hepatitis C. Your doctor may order additional tests to clarify issues such as severe or mild hepatitis or whether treatment is required.

False positives or false negatives are usually caused by the following reasons:

• Wrongly perform the test steps.
