Havax 0.5ml Vaccine (Vietnam)

Hepatitis A is the main cause of up to 29% of acute hepatitis cases. Of those, 59% were over the age of 20. The 0.5ml Havax vaccine (Vietnam) is used for people at risk of exposure to the hepatitis A virus.

The Havax vaccine is a vaccine against hepatitis A, containing the hepatitis A virus HM175 that is inactivated with formaldehyde and apperated with aluminum hydroxyt.

Havax is researched and manufactured by The No. 1 Vaccine and Biological Products Company Limited (Vabiotech – Vietnam). Havax meets the standards recommended by the World Health Organization WHO.

Havax is used to prevent hepatitis A for adults and children 2 years and older. Havax is used for people at risk of exposure to hepatitis A virus:

  • People who have not been vaccinated with Hepatitis A and plan to travel to epidemic areas (areas where hepatitis A virus is common).
  • Exposed occupations: nurses, nurses, public servants working in the care of disabled children, water, wastewater and industrial food treatment workers.
  • People who are especially at risk of infection (patients who prefer bleeding, repeated infusions, intravenously, gay).
  • Havax does not protect against liver diseases caused by pathogens and other hepatitis viruses.

  • Adults 18 years and older: 1ml dose injection, 2 injections, 2 shots 1 shot from 6-12 months.

How to use:

  • Not injected intravenously or in the skin, Havax must be intramuscularly injected to get the highest immune response.

6. Special warning and caution

  • Just like all vaccines: epinephrine should always be available as a precaution against cases of anaphylactic shock after vaccination.
  • Havax should not be injected into the buttocks or in the skin because of the low immune response
  • For patients who are having blood verification or immuno-deterioration, after injection, the antibody content may not be as high as expected. With these subjects may have to inject additional doses, repeat.
  • The incubation period of hepatitis A can be prolonged. Therefore, if vaccination is in the incubation stage, the vaccine may not be able to protect these subjects.

7. Undesirable effects

  • Common reactions: After, swelling, redness at the injection site. These symptoms usually clear up within 2 days after injection.
  • Rarely encountered: fever, headache, nausea, fatigue, dizziness. However, there is insufficient evidence to prove there is a link between vaccination and these undesirable effects.

8. Shelf life

Shelf Life: 24 months from the date of manufacture.

Special caution when preserving:

  • Store in the refrigerator (2°C – 8°C).
  • Don't let it get frozen.
