The article was consulted professionally by Master, Dr. Nguyen Thi Cam Van – IVF Lab Doctor – Center for Assisted Reproduction – Share99 Times City International Health Hub. The doctor has experience and strengths in performing intensive techniques on assisted reproduction in the in vi test tube fertilization lab.
In vism injection of sperm is performed as part of in viin in vicular fertilization (IVF) to inject sperm into the ovule to help sperm fertilize with eggs. This assisted reproduction technique has treated infertile men the most and is used in more than half of IVF cases.
1. Implementation procedure
Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) is performed at assisted reproduction centers by injecting a healthy infection directly into the egg to create the embryo.
The ICSI technique is performed similarly to IVF, starting with the fact that the woman will use the drug to stimulate the ovaries in order to increase the number of eggs. After that, these eggs will be sucked through the vaginal line under the guidance of an ultrasound machine and the eggs will be cultured under appropriate conditions at the in viinal fertilization lab. After taking semen samples from the husband, the sample will be filtered to choose good mobile sperm, good erm. Then, using a modern micro-injection system, a sperm with a good edging and mobility will be caught with a glass needle and injected directly into the egg.
After injecting sperm into the egg future cell, the egg will be further cultured in the in vi vismable insevenous lab and assessed for daily development. When the embryo is created, the good quality embryo will be transferred back to the mother's uterus. After that, the doctor and the spouse will monitor the symptoms of pregnancy, when there are symptoms, the doctor will use a blood test or ultrasound to determine if the mother is pregnant or not.
2. Advantages of sperm injection into the carciner of the ovule (ICSI)
According to the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, ICSI is a safe and effective procedure for couples with male infertility and improves fertilization for couples with poor fertilization results in IVF that have been done before.
Through the ICSI technique, many couples with male infertility problems have successfully become pregnant with fertilization rates reaching between 70 and 80 %, equivalent to eggs fertilized with normal sperm, and pregnancy rates equivalent to IVF in couples without male infertility factors.
ICSI is often used with couples who are having problems with sperm quality that prevents sperm from entering the egg or moving to meet the egg such as: low sperm number, poor sperm mobility, low sperm quality, sperm inability to penetrate the egg or men with ovulation but no sperm sperm in semen, also known as infertility due to the lack of sperm (Azoospermia). The ICSI technique solves all cases where men have these problems, since the embryonic specialist will choose the healthiest sperm and transfer it directly to the egg so the sperm does not have to swim to the egg and also does not need to spend energy to penetrate the egg, ultimately increasing the rate of fertilization.
3. Disadvantages of the technique of injecting sperm into the carciner of the ovule (ICSI)
Besides the advantages of increasing the rate of successful fertilization and pregnancy, icsi technique also has a number of disadvantages. First, during the ICSI procedure there is a small amount of eggs, usually less than 5% that can degenerate due to a stab needle.
In addition, the ICSI technique performed in addition to IVF should increase the cost of an IVF cycle compared to conventional IVF.
