  • Group of anti-gastric acid drugs: the most commonly used form of antacid is a combination of aluminum and magnesium. The drug has many forms of processing such as gels, tablets, powders, medicines. It is recommended to take the drug after eating 1-3 hours or before going to bed, the number of uses depends on the patient's condition.

Besides treating bad breath with drugs, lifestyle changes play a very important role in improving the condition. The measures to change the patient's lifestyle should be:

  • Avoid foods and beverages such as alcohol, beer, coffee, carbonated soft drinks, orange juices, lemons, chocolates, spicy and fatty foods,… These are foods that can aggravate gastric reflux disease.
  • Avoid bending forward, laboring or exercising heavily immediately after eating.
  • Eat in several meals during the day, avoid eating at least 2 hours before bedtime, avoid lying immediately after eating.
  • Lie on your head high when sleeping, stop smoking, lose weight, do not squeeze or wear pants that are too tight.

If combined medical treatment for lifestyle changes fails, the patient may receive anti-reflux surgery. Surgery can help improve symptoms of hotness and reflux, however some post-surgery patients still have to continue taking medication.

  • Use some folk remedies such as mint leaves, fresh ginger, fresh lemon zest, licorice, salt and coriander leaves,… is also very effective for eliminating unpleasant odors in the breath.
