Can I get infected in 2019-nCoV from animals?

Detailed research shows that SARS-CoV is transmitted from civets to humans in China in 2002, and MERS-CoV transmitted from camels to humans in Saudi Arabia in 2012. Some strains of coronavirus exist only in animals that have not yet spread to humans.

It is unclear what animal 2019-nCoV is transmitted to humans. However this does not mean that you can get 2019-nCoV infection from any animal or from your pet. The first cases are highly likely to originate from animals in the animal market living in China. Protect yourself by avoiding visiting live animal markets, if forced to arrive, avoid direct contact with live animals and surfaces in contact with them.

It is necessary to avoid eating raw or uncooked animal products. Raw and cooked food processing tools should be used separately.
