Oliguria and anuria are characteristic of emergency renal failure – the disease has a high mortality rate. Therefore, patients with emergency renal failure should be recognized characteristics for timely treatment.

1. What is emergency renal failure?

Emergency renal failure is a functional condition of two kidneys that is impaired or completely lost for a period of time, but only temporarily. Due to various causes, the functions of the kidneys are impaired or lost quickly, causing the filtration level of the microceret to be completely impaired, causing oliguria and anuria, increasing the concentration of substances such as ure, creatinine in the blood, balances such as water – electrolyte , alkali – acid and some other balance in the body with disorders …

2. Features of renal failure of the level

Emergency renal failure syndrome has the following characteristics:

  • Auria, prolonged anuria: The person urinates little or no urine for about 1-3 weeks or longer.
  • Increased levels of ure, creatinine in the blood: As prolonged oliguria and anuria lead to increased concentrations of substances such as ure, creatinine in the blood, the disease becomes serious as the concentration of these substances increases rapidly.
  • Water balance disorders – electrolyses and acid alkalis: Prolonged oliguria and anuria also cause balances in the body such as water – electrolyses and acid alkalis to be disturbed.
  • High mortality: When the concentration of substances such as ure, potassium, … in the blood hypertension, pulmonary edema, will lead to death.

3. Why is there an emergency kidney failure?

There are many causes of emergency renal failure, however, the clinical symptoms and hismi hismi-ware lesions of the causes are the same.

  • Renal renal failure before the kidneys: Causes include volume shock due to injury, simulatem, abortion, miscarriage, surgery, … causes hemorrhage; cardiac shock due to myocardial infarction; septic shock caused by intestinal infections, septicaemia and hypersensitivity shock due to anaphylactic shock, which causes acute renal failure.
  • Acute renal failure in the kidneys: Specific causes include heavy metal intoxication, toxins in the working or natural environment, antibiotics, anesthesigens; kidney diseases such as renal blood vessels, angulous inflammation, interstitial inflammation of the kidneys; blockage of the kidneys due to crystals, which causes emergency renal failure.
  • Post-kidney renal renal failure: Possible causes include nerve damage that causes bladder paralysis, obstruction of the renal tank, obstruction of the ureter or obstruction of the bladder due to stones or tumors; ureteral lumbarity during surgery, causing emergency renal failure.

4. Symptoms of stage-by-stage renal failure

Progressive renal failure progresses through 4 stages: on-top, oliguria and anuria, urinary return and recovery. Here are the specific symptoms of the disease through each stage:

  • Initial stage: Depending on the cause of the disease, the person will have oliguria or anuria for different periods of time.
  • Stage of oliguria and anuria: At this stage, the person begins to have prolonged oliguria or anuria, about 1-2 days to several weeks. As oliguria, prolonged anuria leads to an increase in the amount of ure and creatinine in the blood. As the concentration of these substances increases, the disease will progress more severely. It also leads to disorders of water balance – electrolysis and alkaline balance acid causing edema, anemia, cardiovascular disorders, convulsions, vomiting, hemorrhages, shortness of breath, coma,… At this stage, if not handled in time it is very easy to lead to death from cardiac arrest, acute pulmonary edema, cerebral edema, potassium poisoning.
  • Urinary return: Renal function begins to recover, patients with emergency renal failure will urinate again with an increased number of urinations and urine volume. Despite this, if complications are not treated in previous stages, the likelihood of death is still possible, however the rate is lower when the patient is given artificial dialysis.
  • Recovery stage: Without complications, the patient's blood levels of ure and creatinine decrease and gradually return to normal levels, renal function and health of the patient recover.

Cerebral edema

At the stage of oliguria and anuria if not processed in time will lead to cerebral edema

5. Can emergency renal failure recover?

The ability and extent of renal function recovery due to emergency renal failure depends on many factors, including:

  • Causes of the disease: Emergency renal failure due to burns has very little recoverability, the recovery rate for causes caused by obstetrics, internal medicine, trauma / surgery is 10 – 15%, 30% and 60%, respectively.
  • Initial conditions: If not handled early, the mortality rate will be high.
  • How to handle: Treatment of water-electrolye balance disorders is important in the treatment of emergency renal failure.

Thus, if the patient is diagnosed, detected and treated in a timely manner, in accordance with the correct and active method, it is possible to restore renal function almost completely or completely. Currently, using artificial kidneys for dialysis, and combining conservative treatment is an effective method in the treatment of emergency renal failure. Cons, if progressive renal failure progresses to chronic renal failure, renal function is gradually impaired with lesions that will gradually lose the chances of recovery.

Emergency renal failure, characterized by oliguria or anuria, is a serious syndrome that can be highly fatal if not handled promptly and appropriately.
