By week 25 of pregnancy, the uterus has grown to a large enough size to pinch the rectum and other nearby muscles making pregnant women more susceptible to hemorrhoids. From this week bbled on, pregnant women should also take care of themselves carefully, clean their teeth to avoid gingivitis.
1. What are the characteristics of women who are 25 weeks pregnant?
Pregnant women at 25 weeks are susceptible to hemorrhoids, since at this time the size of the uterus is already large enough to cause compression of the rectum and neighboring muscles. From there, increase the amount of blood coming in the arterial route but reduce the amount of blood that follows the intravenous route due to weak thrust and a narrowed vascular area. In addition, there are other causes such as constipation and prolonged ingestion. Hemorrhoids can cause pain when going outside, even causing rectal bleeding.
Some measures that can be applied to relieve the symptoms of hemorrhoids such as:
- Apply with an ice pack or hazelnut juice
- Sitting bath (sitz bath): Sitting in hot water to relieve pain, swelling of the anus.
- Enhance liquid supply (mineral water, juices, milk…) and fiber-rich foods (fruits, vegetables and cereals).
- Perform pelvic floor exercises (Kegels) and try not to push when going to the toilet.
Over-the-counter bullet painkillers and/or prescription wipes
Note, pregnant women should not take laxatives or lubricants because it can stimulate digestion causing diarrhea.
Pregnant women at 25 weeks should pay attention to oral care because they are prone to gingivitis. Uns treated gingivitis can progress to dayontal inflammation – a more serious infection that is associated with preterm birth and even an increased risk of pre-production. Therefore, mothers need to protect their babies by applying clean oral hygiene such as brushing their teeth at least 2 times a day and using dental certificates regularly.
2. Symptoms considered normal during pregnancy week 25
2.1 Heartburn and ingestion
Pregnant women often feel like stomach acid is burning the pods and chest. Mitigate discomfort by using certain medications such as Tums chewing tablets or Rolaids antacids as soon as symptoms appear.
Snoring is quite common during pregnancy because increased blood flow to the mucous membrane of the nose causes nasal asphyxiation. However, if the pregnant woman feels that the snoring wakes up several times, has trouble sleeping or loses sleep, then this may be a sign that sleep apnea (which can cause oxygen loss), it is necessary to inform the doctor.
2.3 Cervical syndrome
Increased blood flow during pregnancy can cause swelling due to increased pressure on the nerves in the wrist, which leads to arm's tube syndrome. When there are signs of this syndrome, it is necessary to inform the doctor in order to be able to take timely pain relief measures such as wearing a wrist brace or acupuncture.
2.4 Pubis mating dysfunction (SPD)
If pain is felt in the pelvic area, the pregnant woman may have suffered from SPD, caused by asymmetrically moving pelvic joints as well as weakness of the muscles around that area. Continuing Kegel exercises and pelvic tilt will help strengthen muscle mass in the pelvic area, and if severe pain the pregnant woman should see a doctor for treatment.
2.5 Restless leg syndrome (RLS)
Pregnant women may feel tingling in the legs accompanied by an urge to move. If you experience this syndrome, your pregnancy should ask your doctor to check for iron deficiency anemia as it may be associated with RLS. Being sensitive to certain foods makes symptoms worse.
2.6 Hair grows faster, thicker and smoother
Because daily hair loss is inhibited by pregnancy hormones, instead during pregnancy women may notice that the hair becomes thicker and more glossy than ever. After birth, hair loss may return.
3. What should pregnant women do during week 25 of pregnancy?
3.1 Prevention of depression (PPD)
During pregnancy women are more likely to increase negative emotions, thereby increasing the risk of post-birthdepression , a common symptom that some women experience after birth. When there are signs of depression, pregnant women should seek help as soon as possible from relatives and psychiatrists.
3.2 Use of moisturizer
Entering week 25, the uterus is already the size of a football that causes skin tightening in the abdomen, thereby making the skin sensitive and increasing skin irritation. Skin irritation tends to appear in the 5th or 6th month of pregnancy. The use of moisturizer or calamine lotion is necessary to take care of the skin, limiting the irritations in the skin.
3.3 Choose healthy sweet foods
During pregnancy, many women often have an appetite for sweets. If you need some snack ideas with sweeteners try one of these foods when you are half-hungry: Carrot or oat muffins can replace donuts and coffee cakes; served with a piece of cheese or a box of yogurt. Or choose to wedge apples with peanut butter; cheese with strawberries, mandarin and cinnamon; walnut yogurt and dried fruit; or a smoothie.
3.4 Eye protection
During this time, the vision of the pregnant woman may be more limited, and contact lenses can cause discomfort when worn. Despite the adequate replenishing of water during the day, the eyes can still dry out. However, eye symptoms, such as skin symptoms, disappear after birth. What the pregnant woman needs to do is inform the doctor and monitor the progress of the disease.
3.5 Choose to buy the most convenient nutritious foods
Pregnant women should make a list of healthy main items before going to the market. Snacks and dairy products to buy include yogurt, cheese, freshly cut fruit salad, carrots, raisins, nuts, dried fruits, tomatoes, greens. That way, no matter how busy the pregnant woman can quickly provide nutrition to the body. In addition, using frozen vegetables and fruits, salad bags washed and cut quickly cooked meat and poultry meat (for sautéing or fajitas) also make the meal both convenient and nutritious.
