In kidney diseases, chronic renal failure is a serious pathology with many complications, there is a high risk of death at the last stage of the disease. The disease is more common in both men and women but more often occurs in females. So clinically, how do we recognize the signs of kidney failure? What is the difference of chronic kidney disease in men with females?

1. Chronic renal failure

Renal failure is a state of impaired function of the kidneys that mainly shows in the function of excreting. Patients are diagnosed with chronic renal failure when the condition lasts a minimum of 3 consecutive months.

Just like hypertension , chronicrenal failure is likened to a silent killer. The disease is usually detected at a late stage, when renal function has been greatly impaired.

Clinically, chronic kidney disease usually progresses through 5 stages:

  • Stage 1:The kidneys are damaged, the level of dialysis of the kidneys remains in the normal index;
  • Phase 2: The kidneys are slightly damaged, the level of dialysis begins to decrease slightly, usually from 60-89 ml/min;
  • Phase 3: Moderately reduced levels of dialysis (from 30-59 ml/min), presenting withanemia , may appear osteoarthritis diseases such as back pain;
  • Phase 4: Severe reduction in dialysis (from 15-29 ml/min);

Phase 5: End-stage renal failure, dialysis levels below 15ml/min, kidneys are almost inactive, patients must conduct extra-renal dialysis or kidney transplantation;

2. Differences of chronic kidney disease in men and women

Chronic renal failure

The frequency of disease in females is higher than in men

2.1 On epidemiological factors

Renal failure is a disease that can occur in both sexes, however clinical practice has shown that the frequency of the disease in females is higher than in men. But on the contrary, after already suffering from the disease, in men, chronic renal failure progresses faster than in females.

In addition to gender issues, chronic renal failure is also affected by age, race, genetic factors and many other objective factors such as nutrition, living, smoking habits …

2.2 Clinical manifestations

General clinical manifestations:

  • There are changes in the urinary tract: repeated urination, little urine, possible foam or a different color;
  • People with fatigue, nausea, vomiting;
  • Dizziness, decrease or loss of concentration;
  • Edema (usually foot edema and facial edema), may itch, the breath smells of ammonia;
  • Back pain on the side of the ribs.

Clinical differences of chronic renal failure in women and men:

  • Renal failure in females:
    • Very afraid of cold even if the weather is at normal temperatures compared to every day;
    • Gain a lot of weight even when you have a scientifically nutritious diet, exercise regularly regularly;
    • Hair loss: hair loss is not associated with weak or healthy dry hair elements, not related to time and weather or the use of chemicals;
    • Dark circles, berry edema even when there is a very reasonable resting regime, eat and sleep on time, get enough sleep;
    • There are manifestations of empathy for married life, pre-menopause syndrome appears early accompanied by manifestations of sweating, psycho-psychological changes …;
    • In particular, women with renal failure , duringpregnancy can affect the development of pregnancy, which can increase the risk of pre-production for the mother.
  • Renal failure in men:
    • Frequent cold limbs even when hot weather is accompanied by a state of shivering, dizziness, sometimes manifested as asthma;
    • Urinating a lot at night, usually more than 2 times in a night, during the day returns to its normal state. Be aware of confusion with cases of high night urination due to drinking plenty of water;
    • Back pain, knee fatigue occur earlier in people who sit for a long time, sedity leads to fatigue, affects the quality of life and work;
    • Dizziness, frequent tinnitus, fear of light accompanied by mouth sores due to impaired immune system;
    • Physical deterioration, which can lead to physical weakness, affect sperm quality or even cause male infertility.

Chronic renal failure

Treatment tendencies in men in favour of dialysis, FAV bridges and kidney transplants

2.3 Treatment trends

The same kidney disease but the predisposition to treatment in the two sexes is different:

  • In men in favour of dialysis, as a bridge to FAV and kidney transplantation;
  • In females often give more kidneys than men.

Chronic renal failure is a common disease in both sexes with different clinical manifestations. However, in general in both sexes, the disease causes serious complications if left uns treated, not only affecting health but also affecting the couple's life as well as the process of childbirth. See your doctor as soon as you have abnormal urinary tract manifestations accompanied by fatigue, back pain, knee fatigue, empathy … for timely examination and treatment.
