Abnormal antibody screening is conducted to reduce the risk of blood transfusions and post-transfusion accidents for patients. The test is also performed with pregnant women with Rh blood type who disagree with the fetus.
1. What is abnormal antibody finding?
The principle of performing abnormal antibody screening techniques is based on a atamic reactions (reactions between antigens and antibodies). A condensation reaction is a reaction between a tangible antigen (cell, or cell equivalent size) and a specific antibody that forms an antigen-antibody complex in the form of a condensate particle that can be observed with the naked eye.
Finding abnormal antibodies is a screening test for antibodies born after an immune response against foreign antigens on the surface of blood donor red blood cells encountered in blood transfusions or finding Rh antibodies in the mother's body after the birth of the first child with rh blood type contrary to that of the mother.
2. Abnormal antibody screening in dinh
- Blood donor
- Patients who during treatment are given a blood transfusion
- The patient has received multiple blood transfusions (once every 7 days)
3. Abnormal antibody testing process
- The received biological sample will be filmed centrifugal blood type in 10 minutes (speed 3,500 rpm)
- Antibody screening tests performed on CAP – R INDICATOR CELLS, CAP- LISS, CAP – R CONTROL SET, CAP – RS POOLED CELLS
- Test performed on Scangel/Gelcard machine
- The testing time is 1 hour
4. Implications of abnormal antibody screening tests
Abnormal antibody screening is an important test before blood transfusion for people with a history of repeated blood transfusions to limit the risk of an a condensation reaction, causing hemoma, endangering the recipient's life.
- "Negative" abnormal antibody screening test results are not guaranteed to be present without IgG antibodies. The ability to detect abnormal antibodies depends greatly on the urethrobial sample used.
- The results of the "positive" abnormal antibody screening test are aimed at detecting antibodies, mainly igm natural antibodies and IgG immunogens.
- If the result is "positive", an abnormal antibody-identifying test should be continued.
- The presence of Serum IgG antibodies can be caused by many causes, noting:
- Due to blood transfusions outside the ABO system.
- Due to differences in the Rh blood type of the fetus and mother during many previous pregnancies.
- Due to an excess of IgG self-born antibodies.
