Before the resonance imaging, patients should provide the doctor with full information about the health condition as well as the tools being implanted on the person (clips of aneurysms, stents, pacemakers, contraceptive rings …) to ensure a safe shooting process.

1. MRI scans and things to keep in mind

Metal materials containing iron ions (iron, steel) placed in the environment of the soy resonance machine will move the position. Therefore, when taking resonance imaging of metal implants in the body such as aneurysms, stents, pacemakers, bone combination instruments will move the position and can damage the surrounding tissues.

In addition, implanted metal materials in the body can heat up significantly during a rem resonance imaging and therefore can also cause damage to the person. Implants can cause signal loss and affect the quality of photographic images.

Therefore, it is important to inform the resymable imaging technician of any implants in the patient's body before entering the resymables room.

2. Can the contraceptive ring be an MRI scan?

Intra-uterus contraceptive (DCTC) tools are manufactured using inert materials such as stainless steel, plastics ,… with additional copper or progestin hormones. There are many types of DCTC used in the world:

+ DCTC contains copper made from a plastic body with copper rings or copper wire is the most common type today in Vietnam. There are many different shapes and different copper content (TCu 380A, Multiload 375, TCu 200, …)

+ DCTC contains progestin: in Vietnam there is a Mirena ring consisting of a polyethylene T-body containing 52 mg of levonogestrel.

+ DCTC metal: using stainless steel can be accompanied by copper wire rings: this type is currently less used in Vietnam as well as in the world. However, in some parts of the world this type of DCTC is still used, such as China. This type of round has mostly ceased to use since 2000 however some older people in China are still carrying this DCTC.

For plastic DCTC combined with copper wire or hormones: the common DCTC in Vietnam will be safe during res resonance imaging. However, for DCTC that uses stainless steel when the resonance imaging will have a motion effect, the heat will not be safe for the patient so an alternative diagnostic method such as ultrasound or pelvic-gynecologic CTscan should be used.

Share99 International Health Hub is currently one of the major hospitals with modern equipment for medical examination and treatment in general and accurate and modern MRI resonance imaging for brain and cerebral diseases in particular.

Patients performing MRI scans at Share99 will be clearly guided by the support staff, technical staff to clearly guide the best operations, shooting procedures, safety issues, ensuring good diagnostic images without harming the patient.

Customers can directly go to Share99 Health System nationwide for examination or contact the hotline here for assistance.
